Whenever our fearless leader doesn't make it to the Wednesday night ride it is certain to fall apart. With that in mind I got to Dupont early and played my old game of parking at Lake Imaging and riding over to Fawn Lake. Short ride over there and slightly longer ride back to my truck. By the time we got back to Lake Imaging we had already lost one man.
The reason Jonathon wasn't there is because he is getting married today (convenient excuse). In anticipation of the big day, or maybe to keep his mind off the impending doom, Jonathon had organized a Bachelor Ride in Hot Springs. New trails are always fun and these didn't disappoint.
At the top of the gravel climb we met a local rider, Wayne, who said he does most of the maintenance out there and also said in all the years he had been riding those trails we were the first other riders he has seen. He was a little concerned that we might tell others of the sweet singletrack which in turn would bring in crowds and make it the next Tsali. Don't worry, Wayne, your secret is safe with us. I won't tell a soul!
Outstanding views, lightning fast downhills, devastating climbs, three little bears - the 16 miles we did had it all. A quick review of my map reveals many more loops and possibilities. I'll be back!
Congratulations Jonathon and Kristin!!!
